Blog #1 Health Fair

Two 12th graders by the names of Shayira Farmer, and Sierra Blagmon came to class explaing the effects of abortion and how they felt about it. Shayira went first. She said, she went to the Youth Empowerment Program where they help teens that are pregnant, and have Sexually Transmitted Diseases. She also stated this thesis, abortion is murder and demeans the value of life. She also said, Adoption, Condoms, and Birth Control, are good substitutes for abortion. Then, she gave some facts, Abortion was passed in the United states by the Supreme Court in 1972. About 1.2 million lives are taken from abortion every year. 2.1% of women between the ages of 15-44 had an abortion in 2000. This was why the empowerment program was created to help prevent these problems. Also, Teenagers have more abortions than grown women. She concluded by saying that highest abortion rate was in 2000. Next, Sierra Blagmon presented her project. She mentioned a non-profit program by the name of project cuddle that is for people who want to give up their babies for adoption instead of getting deadly abortions. She also said that abortion is highest in African American females. About 45000000 babies legally killed every year. She concluded her project by saying that most abortions are by women under the age of 25. Both projects were both very educational and informative. Now I know more ways of preventing child birth before I want to have kids. Then after we heard some of their presentation, they had a health fair going on in the auditorium on the first floor where they had brochures on different problems such as STD's and child birth. They also had free stuff such as pens, fruit, condoms and other stuff of that sort. Those were just some of the things at the health fair. Parkway is getting healthy!!!

The top 10 MVP candidates

According to FOX sports the top 10 MVP candidates are, 10-Steve Nash, 9-Dwayne Wade, 8-Rajon Rondo, 7-Russell Westbrook, 6-Kevin Love, 5-Kobe Bryant, 4-Tony Parker, 3-Chris Paul, 2-Kevin Durant, and #1-Lebron James. I think that Lebron Jame deserves his spot and think that if he keeps playing well, he'll have his next Most Valuable Player title in no time.I also think that this year's MVP candidate votes will be really close because of the simple fact that they all are doing really well and they are really leading their teams. but, all in all I believe that whoever can lead their team to the Finals and or win it, have a GURANTEED chance of getting the MVP spot. But if not then, who ever else gets it deserves it. I really hope LeBron win the MVP AND wins the Finals so he can shut all the critics up that doubt him all the time. LeBron has the ability to win multiple rings because of his ability on the court. Kevin Durant is the same way too. I really hope that one of these guys wins the Finals because they will have a unanimous descion to win the MVP. I guess when the time comes around I will be able to see who wins the Most Valuable Player award.
